What is a Meal Plan?
All residential students must select and keep the same meal plan for the duration of the academic year (August to May).
- All resident students with a meal plan will also have Monty Bucks that can be used in either the Lion's Den or the Schreiner Diner.
- Declining Balance plans will carry over from Fall to Spring semesters.
- Meals and Declining Balance are not active between terms. All remaining balances will be cleared at the end of the Spring term.
- Commuter students may purchase residential or declining balance meal plans through the Office of Residence Life.

May I treat a guest to a meal?
Yes, meals may be given to a friend or family on every plan except for the Unlimited. Declining Balance and Monty Bucks may also be used to purchase a guest meal.
What do I do if I use up my meals before the end of the week?
You may use your Monty Bucks balance to purchase a meal or pay cash at the door.
What is the span of the dining week?
The dining week runs Friday to Thursday.
Why do I have to show my ID to enter the dining hall?
It is a matter of security and safety that the school requires IDs be shown. It is true that we will come to know you as the year progresses, but it isn’t fair to require a student we may not be familiar with to show their ID and not have you show it. In order to be fair to everyone, IDs must always be brought to use your meal plan.
Can I come into the cafeteria if I’m not eating?
Because we cannot monitor our guests once they pass the cashier station and as seating is limited, a guest entering the cafeteria must be swiped or charged for a meal.
What if I want to eat in the dining hall and get a To-Go Box?
You just need to let the cashier know. Your card will need to be swiped for two meals. If you didn’t bring a To-Go Eco Clamshell, one can be purchased at the register for 8.50 (plus tax).

Managing Your Plan
There are three ways you can check your Meal Swipes and Dining Dollars balance:
- On the mySchreiner app
- The cashier can swipe your card to find your remaining balance/meals
- You are also welcome to come to the office during business hours and we can check the balance.
